Maybe a silly question but are there any organisations in Hungary (Balaton area) like the AA / RAC or is it just a case of contacting friends/local garage for help. Thanks

Hi Richard, not sure about this one! I am sure there must be but perhaps it is confined to Budapest. Must admit I haven't seen any recovery vans during our travels. When we have broken down we simply flag down a Roma - usually in a Lada Either that or a local garage will assist you and it won't be expensive, haggle with them if it is.

Hey - that could be a business idea!

Thanks Rural, as usual a font of knowledge, it appears about half price of AA but the benefits I will have to work out, thanks for your time in looking.

And if I knew that do you think I would tell

Could do with knowing them myself as I want to buy another house! I've fallen in love with a little area nestled in the hills (me and the hills) and for now it is unknown and cheap, might give the lottery a go myself this week
