Anyone know if a BT landline phone would work in Hungary?

Re: UK Landline phone.
Are you wanting to bring it over for a special reason (i.e. it has bigger buttons and/or better features)? The reason I ask is because, although it should work in theory, surely it is cheaper to buy a new phone in the country you want to use it in.
You can buy from mediamart hu (search for vezetékes telefon) for around 8-10 thousand forints - Here are some telephones with big buttons for example:
Keresés - Media Markt webáruház
CONCORDE 5030 asztali telefon időseknek, fehér színben - Media Markt online vásárlás

Nothing to do with those numbers The numbers I'm interested in are Clubcard points, which I convert into airmiles to get cheap flights to Hungary.
Tescos(UK) are often doing bonus points offers on phones and as we need one for our house in Hungary, I was going to buy it here.
Hence I was wondering are they compatible with the Hungarian phone lines?

At the very least, you'd need a new cable, since Hungary uses the CP2C (RJ11) standard, the UK BS 6312.

EBay UK supply plug-in adaptors for around £2.

That is a good question as I found I could only buy a portable phone in the places I looked in Hungary, whereas I prefer such things to be hard wired, so they still work during a power cut (or in my case, for the 6 months it took to get reconnected when Eon cut me off).
