I am now at nearly 6 weeks since I got my letter of approval and still waiting due to this unspecified problem at the company who produce the cards. I have no idea if the problem is still happening, which would be crazy, or if they are simply working back a massive backlog.

As I reported before the missus had to go back to Kaposvar a.s they got her birthdate wrong on the newly received card. At least 8 weeks on no card received ,still waiting. I sent an email to a contact there and waiting for an explanation. Without the card she cannot apply for the Hungarian ID card.

Re: Transition period ends, some clarification documents

I have managed to reach the immigration office again this morning, and I have found out the issue with big delays in the processing of the residency card after approval.

The have LOST EVERBODY'S FINGERPRINT AND PHOTO data they took when we had our appointments at the immigration office!

I do not know how far back this loss goes, I assume it just effects those who are waiting for their cards.

They are sending letters to everyone affected, and we will have to go back to have our fingerprints and photos taken again before they can process the card. I don't know why this has taken so long for them to action.

I am told we do not need to resubmit our application, just the biometric data is needed again.

I haven't received any letter yet, but I have already booked an appointment to submit biometric data, as already Sept 9th was the earliest.

Do you know if this is a nationwide issue or just local to your area?

I am not certain, but I believe this is nationwide, not just Budapest. I have heard from people all over Hungary that have been waiting a month or more for their cards.

I had my appointment and handed in my application on the 26 th May. I received a letter dated 8th July saying that the application had been approved and I'd be receiving my card shortly. I'm still waiting. I'll ask my friend to phone them to find out the cause of the delay. I'm in Miskolc

It does seem to be that they have lost our biometric data, and we need to go back to redo it. Though it doesn't make complete sense as this delay getting the card has been affecting people throughout July and into August at least, and as it is only supposed to take 2 weeks to receive the card they must have lost the data much later. Hopefully this letter we are supposed to get will explain it in more detail.

As already mentioned there seems to be a problem affecting all issued permanent residence cards!

Also, for those within range

I phoned the Miskolc immigration office this morning and the woman I spoke to said she knew nothing about missing or lost biometrics and there was no need for me to have mine taken again.
Maybe this is a localised issue....or the woman I spoke to didn't know what she was talking about. Both a possibility.

Got a letter this morning. We originally applied in APRIL... got cards pithing a month, my missus had to go back as they got her D.O.B wrong and 12 weeks on still waiting for her revised card. I assume they have lost all data for everyone (Somogy area). You can go back (Again) during September for the bio scan/photo without appointment at specific times but I wonder how long the queues will be. Oh dear.

I'm going to ask my Hungarian/English speaking friend to phone Miskolc tomorrow when I meet him. He came with me to translate and has the name and phone number of the woman who dealt with my application. I'll come back to you if he can get through to the number or maybe if it's not pouring with rain we might take the dogs a walk to the offices.

That is interesting, there is a reference to the withdrawal agreement on the back of my card, (it is like an additional line specific to the individual card) so maybe someone noticed something about it and now they are pausing all new cards, while they decide if there is an issue, and how to resolve it.

I went into the office in Miskolc and spoke to the lady who dealt with my application. I also gave her the letter dated 8th July saying I'd shortly be receiving my Residence Card. which to date hasn't yet arrived. She checked my details on the computer before phoning someone (no idea where). She then told me my application is in the system and not to worry because the delay is because certain details due to Brexit still have to be clarified. Once that is done we will receive our cards..

Went to the document office Marcali today (as invited by letter) to apply for my Hungarian I.D card that was ok, done that and will be received by post. I told her about the bio data missing (she had no idea) and that everyone will have to go again for bio scan from UK and she may have moaning Brits at her dept but it is not their fault/problem. My missus ( previously mentioned) had an email from Immigration and she will also have a "letter" explaining the cockup/problem, soon ?.
