Thunder storms
Anyone else think we are getting more thunderstorms every year? What’s happening? Have even had to give some calming medicine to the dog! Knocked out our internet overnight.

Re: Thunder storms
I don't think we are getting more thunderstorms than in previous times. We have had 3 lightning strikes that created an insurance claim, the first being 15 years ago with the other two 4-5 years apart. We have had a few other lightning strikes that caused damage (mostly trees blown apart) but did not cause an insured loss. Our bedroom overlooks the landscape and many times we have gone to bed serenaded by thunder and the hills dancing with the lightning.
We have never given our dog 'happy pills' during a thunderstorm but a really bad (or is it good?) thunderstorm is the only time they are allowed in the house and then it is to go into the cellar!
Certainly we get LOTS more thunderstorms than we ever got in the UK.

I can't say I've noticed any more in recent years up this neck of the woods. There have been a few this year but nit many. We seem to have our own micro climate as we are tucked away in a valley and seem to miss some of the worst weather going on nearby. Last year there were hardly any storms that I recall.

Here between the Balaton and the Zala valley we already have had a lot of thunderstorms this week (also at night, woke up regularly ...) - and it's been raining for more than two days almost coninuously!

Yes Wolfi. We are at the northern end of the lake and I am wondering if the lake has something to do with the heavy storms. Woke me up last night again. I am sure they weren’t so frequent five years ago. ⚡️⚡️

Well I live 50 kms from Kosice Slovakia and late yesterday afternoon we had the most horrific thunderstorm, not only torrential rain but hailstones as well. At one point I thought the hail was going to smash my living room windows. Thunder was still rumbling round the surrounding hills at midnight.
Today I had to drive into town, Debris and broken branches everywhere and a lot of mud which had washed onto the road from the fields. I'd just arrived home shortly after 2 o'clock when the heavens opened again and it was raining steadily until about half an hour ago.

Re: Thunder storms
Hail destroyed some crops here last year, very sad.
We just heard from a friend that this afternoon she had to take a large detour with her car - the main road (71?) near the Tesco in Keszthely was flooded - the water would have entered the car's door if she had had to get out.
And here after a short pause when we harvested some apples it started raining again - the sky is really dark.
