Thousands separator "." ?
Hi
Is it common for a decimal point "." to be used as the thousands separator in Hungarian bank account statements ?
For example, does 3.559.494 = 3,559,494 in the UK ?

Yes, that is what they do in Hungary. It takes some getting used to and you need to do the same on any numbers you want a Hungarian to read. I found it all quite confusing when I first came to Hungary and I still sometimes give the wrong notes for things in shops eg a 500 when it should be a 5000. I don't know how they wrote the numbers when they had coins of less than a Forint (100 fillér = 1 Forint).

Also the Hungarian version of excel uses a "," for the decimal point which can make importing files dificult.

Actually nowadays most countries (except those still measuring in inch and feet ...) use the comma as the decimal mark:
