Székesfehérvár Expats

Black British moving to Székesfehérvar, Hungary. I will like to socialise and meet expats in Székesfehérvar. Any group or people living in Székesfehérvar here? Would be nice to create a group for people living in Székesfehérvar and engage in social events.

You don't say much about yourself and why you are moving to this area.

It sounds like you have found a job in Székesfehérvar, congrats.
I only knew of one expat in the Székesfehérvar area and he moved back to the UK some time back for health reasons and by the lack of response it would appear that there aren't many (any) new incomers.

When do / did you start and do you have accommodation etc. sorted and how is your Hungarian?

Hi Peter. I haven't found a job yet in Székesfehérvar. I have 2 offer's from Budapest. But I will decline it if I can get sth in Székesfehérvar. My partner is Hungárian and She just got a job in Budapest recently. She will be commuting to Budapest from Székesfehérvar by Train coz her workplace is next to the train station in Budapest. I previously lived and studied in Budapest some years ago. Would Def prefer to live in Székesfehérvar coz it's not crowded and busy like budapest, We will be moving to Székesfehérvar together because it actually suit the lifestyle we are looking for and also because it's less crowded and much calmer/peaceful. It isn't a big city neither a village, the location is perfect for us coz it's close to Budapest and Balaton. My partner family is also living in Veszprém megye. We moving back in order to be close to the family. My Hungarian is Intermediate level. I understand almost everything in Hungárian language but my hungarian conversation level is more or less average. We are still looking for house in Székesfehérvar. We haven't found a suitable one yet. Hopefully we will get a house before moving to Székesfehérvar in August. Finger's crossed 🤞🏿.

I can understand your reasons for living outside Budapest. Looks like the perfect location between Budapest and Balaton. You have got a great start ahead of most ex-Pats who decide to move to Hungary having already studied in Budapest and being able to understand Hungarian at intermediate level. Hope you find the right job and house. I'm hoping to move over the next year or so. My wife's family live in a village near Miskolc.

Hi have you tried IBM, they have an office in Szekesfehervar. Have a look on their website. We live near Veszprem so are often that way. The old town is really lovely and with easy access to BP by train it is a good choice.
Good luck....

Hi Cathy, Thanks for your input. I have applied with IBM and I got a reply few days ago to complete an assessment which I have submitted. Presently waiting to hear from them. I got offer for a job in Budapest with Unisys, but I am not too keen on it. Would only consider working there if I can't find anything in Székesfehérvar. Fingers crossed 🤞🏿. Veszprém is a very nice place as well. I previously lived in Veszprém in the past. I love the Kossuth street, Óváros square, Veszprémi utcái zene fesztivál, állatkert. Nice and quiet location. Looking forward to living in Hungary again and spending more time with family.
