What a size! Coincidentally, we've been in the woods today having a look about. Thinking of training mutley to sniff for truffles as they are in this area

I watched a tv programme the other week where they looked for truffles in UK - they were under a particular tree (forgotten which LOL) and were only just under the top of the soil and when they found one they then followed the root system (a bit like wet rot) to find lots more.
They made it look very easy but it obviously can't be!

Just seen this! Usually they are found under oak, beech or fir trees and I know they are in this area as a nearby village has a truffle conservation society. I think the summer truffles can be found from next month on wards but the best ones, the black truffle, are found in September - the same time as the cepes (porcini) so come September you will find us in the forests

Does anyone know if you can get "Weed & Feed" in Hungary?

Despite hours preparing the soil, including weedkiller first, then digging and endless raking, we now have more weeds than grass growing from the several packets of grass seed we have sown and nurtured!

It's very frustrating!

My peach tree that we planted last autumn now has a few tiny peaches on it. It could be apricot, not peach as they were just labelled "Barack" on the market stall:

We have no blight as of yet out here although we were decimated by it 3 years ago lost 75% of our tomato crop and 60% of our potato crop... Thoroughly heartbreaking to have to rip out the infected plants and burn them to prevent the spread.

With temps climbing now beyond the "magic" 28°C mark, you should get very little further spread although I would take out infected plants and burn them.
