Default Rubbish

Hi,

What is the Hungarian equivalent of a "tip" or "rubbish dump" or "refuse centre" in UK.

We have a holiday home and just done some upgrading of some rooms - so have a load of cardboard packaging from the Ikea stuff - plus an old bed to be thrown away.

I am perfectly fine to get it all in the car and take it to the tip ( as I would do in UK ). No issue if I have to pay a disposal fee, just much better than spending ages trying to fill random recycling bins etc.

Thanks in advance!!!!

Things like cardboard and paper (along with plastic bottles, milk/juice cartons and 'tin' cans) go into the selective rubbish for recycling which is either collected periodically from your house or you put it into large bins centrally located. Ask your neighbours or the local council. Glass bottles go into large bins centrally located, again ask for the location.

Everywhere has one rubbish day per year where large items of furniture can be disposed of (free). Ask your local council if you have missed this years day. If you are not around when this day occurs then you will have to take it to the tip - the council will know where this is.

Oh - perhaps as a holiday home you don't get rubbish collection, in which case the above may not apply to house collection for selective rubbish but the central bins will still be available. Otherwise ask your council where the tip is located. All the selective rubbish will be free to tip but the bed will be chargeable.

Some supermarkets have areas where electric/electronic goods can be dumped for recycling (along with glass bottle collection) otherwise the tip will take these free.

Rubbish tip = szeméttelep

In our village, all 3 large communal recycling bins (including glass) get emptied by the same lorry (ie all into the same place, not separate compartments on the lorry). So why can't we put glass in the household recycling bin?

In our village like in all of Zala county the central bins (glass, paper, plastics) were taken away earlier this year - crazy!
At least we have those Selektiv "yellow sacks" for metal and plastic and you can put outside cartons filled with paper - but how this is handled later?
I fear James is right ...
