Rise and Fall with Property in Hungary
Well I am Back to give Sunday reading not a Horror Story but as good as,
2008 Arrived in Hungary wanting a New Life years one it turned into "Sour Grapes" Married a Hungarian separated in 2010 divorce 2016. Property when I arrived I could not purchase was Zarkert so in Her Name Property cost 3 mill, hf at rate of 290 hf.+£1.00 improvements and modernization 2 mill, hf. Total 5 mill,hf. Sold last week for 3,600 mill. hf but in Her name everything She dived the money Up sales commission 140,00 hf ME 2.600 mill, hf all the money at ech rate of 356 hf. =£1.00 She Taking out 1 mill. hf saying She Deserves this amount, So my lesson in Life never Trust sum one whom I thought I could Trust more so when Divorce Judgement at Court no Payments, But at Least I have my other place to go to and now when OK to be overthere enjoy Life digger47 |

I think the country is pretty irreverent when it comes to acrimonious divorce settlements!

IMO property in Hungary should be bought to live in and not to expect a rise in value. In Hungary it is easy to renovate a property beyond its value which can take years to recover. Also the vagaries of the exchange rate can make a big differance in either direction.

An expat friend is in a similar position but not married. He has a large, modern house which is on the market for 20 million ft. The house is in his Hungarian ex girlfriends name and the relationship has failed so she may well keep all the money.
