My doctor noticed that my UK licence had these extra vehicle classes and made sure that they were selected on the form. This, however, meant that I had to go and get a chest x-ray and a blood test at the hospital because these are required in Hungary to drive the additional classes.

Funny that! My licence goes all the way up to buses with trailers and articulated lorries (including motor bikes) and I had my licence renewed last October without the need for anything other than a blood pressure test, a few questions about my health and an eye test, but then I have had the same GP here for 25 years and he knows my history so I guess he thought the x-ray etc was not needed.and could sign me up without them.

I've got some heavy vehicles on my licence as well, but have never had any problem getting my medical certificate. I don't even see the doctor, only the nurse who takes it to the doctor to sign.

I haven't got those extra categories on my driving licence except unexpectedly a motorcycle category which had restrictions on my UK driving licence. If you're expecting to drive a vehicle under those extras it's worth ensuring they are on your HU driving licence. I'm 200% certain I won't be driving any of them and I know friends who can if needed.
