Raiffeisen banki - free withdrawals declaration

Hi guys,

I just got a current account with Raiffeisen bank in Budapest and I was wondering what the 'free withdrawals declaration' is. Without it, I will pay a small fee for each withdrawal. I have read the small print and I can't seem to work out what it means as it's all jargon to me haha. However, it sounds as if I have to use it for business or something? Sorry if this sounds stupid.

I was wondering if anyone with a Raiffeisen bank account knows more?

Hi,

I can't vouch for Raiffeissen, but I have an OTP account and I'm allowed two free transactions up to a combined maximum of 150,000 per month. After that there a (relatively small) charges for further cash withdrawls.

I don't know if this is a legal requirement for all banks to offer this facility. Hope that helps

It all started some time back when everyone began to be paid by bank transfer. As banks here charge per transaction people complained that they were being charged to get their wages so the banks decided that an arbitrary amount, 150,000huf, could be withdraw per month without incurring bank charges. (I thought it was 150k in one lump but CC above advises it is 2 withdrawals) This is only free if you use an ATM, if you withdraw over the counter you are charged

Maybe a basic question, but are there charges for direct debits or for using your debit card in shops?

My wife reliably informs me that there is a charge for direct debits, but not for using your debit card in shops.
