Pruning Fruit Trees In Hungary
Can anyone help on timing of pruning fruit trees bearing in mind the cold winters - I still can't find a gardening book written for Hungarian conditions but in English.
Have just inherited some out of condition apple, peach plum & walnut trees. Would love to get to know when to prune them back hard to a sensible shape. Any suggestions very much appreciated.

I could offer advise John but you would be cursing me next year when your trees have no fruit
Last year, I pruned mine in November and this year only one flowered but no fruit at all. Not sure whether it was my lack of pruning skills or the late frost we had (as friends and neighbours trees fruited, I assume the former).
Hopefully someone like Hotpot can advise us both

Thanks Rural - maybe next year will be a bumper crop!
I should probably just watch when the neighbours do it but sadly am not in Hungary all the time -yet.
