Currently our hard cheese of choice is the black label cheddar from Aldi. They do a green, red and black label which are 4, 16 and 52 week matured respectively with the black being the strongest. A similar gouda is also available and both are streets ahead of the typical Hungarian cheese that tries to pass it's self of as hard cheese.

Thanks, all of you!
Yes, Hungarian cheese is a problem. My wife told me that in Kádár times they only had one type of cheap cheese:
Trapista
And she still almost gets a nervous breakdown when that is offered to her ...
So we'll try them both.
PS and a bit OT:
My wife's son tried Scamorza once in an Italian restaurant and asked us to bring some from Germany, it was really good but also really expensive. Just saw it at the Lidl too so had to buy several packages ...

Sorry, no British week at the Lidl, but starting next Monday they'll have several cheese, varieties of cheddar and white and blue Stilton. Of course I have no idea whether the quality is comparable with what you get in Britain, but ...
And Irish butter, which my wife really likes, at the unbelievable price of 469 HUF per package!
Enjoy!

Wonder if it’ll go away after this month? Brexit etc... Here in the Caribbean we get tesco, Waitrose and American brands though some us supply issues has brought us Costco and somerfield recently.

For us it's not a problem - we go to the Lidl usually twice a week and I always look for those special offers, doesn't matter which country. My wife also likes to try out stuff which she couldn't get in Hungary when she was younger ...
And a few days ago when we had a bit of sunshine we walked there indeed - maybe half an hour through our "village", lovely!
