What a coincidence!
I'm just looking at the new ads we got in the mail today - Tesco has an offer for 1000 HUF back if you spend more than 10 000 next weekend and here it is:
Baileys at 4199 ...

I'm not sure how popular that would be with the neighbours ! I had settled on something like Baileys as it is popular but I suspected that it would be available there… I will have to think of something that is a bit "British" and is a bit more exciting than a box of biscuits… !

How about a selection of sweets? I don't mean chocolate but traditional British sweets, might cause some amusement!

Most of the "standard" international products whose names are well known are available here, maybe "a bit more expensive", that's one of the points of globalisation. I remember Lidl selling Mexican, Chinese and Thai beers etc ...
What we do:
We bringg German Ritter Sport chocolate which is of good quality and of course available in Hungary - but costs at least twice of what we pay in the factory shop, so it's a kind of special treat ...
Maybe there's something similar from Britain - don't know about Cadbury sweets maybe?

Thanks for the suggestions ! Cadbury is not what it was after it was taken over by the US company Kraft and their products are quite widely boycotted in the UK now ! However, there is a very nice chocolate called "Galaxy" which is very popular so that could be a possibility ! If I went for alcohol, there is a very nice Jack Daniels edition called "Fire" which is flavoured with cinnamon and very popular at Christmas time…. maybe that is not available in Hungary….. !!!!!

Pfui!
It's the same all over the world, we try to boycot those companies!
ferrero (kinder..., Nutella, ... is a similar bastard, essentially it's all just sugar ...

And now for the good news:
In the Easter deLuxe program starting Monday Lidl has Stilton and several varieties of Cheddar amongst a lot of international specialties - maybe something there for the homesick?

Cadburys sold out to kraft years ago, its made in poland now, the american cadburys exists but never seen it outside the states, like hersheys its designed to stay solid at much higher temperatures but not in a good way, here we have 100% cocoa chocolate bars that never melt here but far too expensive to make for those buggxxx 80% is good fir about 75 degrees.
Lidls own 38% isnt bad and is very cheap.
