Hungary and its people are a very interesting lot! I think just about every nation has its own traditions and quirkiness. :)

I must agree with number 2. I have yet to meet a Hungarian who is enthusiastic about trying new foods, unless it's something sweet.

Completely agree with you on this one. My Hungarian wife cooks alot of international and British dishes and when the relatives come over she thinks long and hard before cooking an international and British dish!

Meat is a MUST!

I also agree about the bit on Hungarian men wearing budgie smugglers. I'm hoping this year someone I know (not me) has bought a new pair which fit properly .....

The proclivity for budgie smugglers was probably one of the most shocking things I came across when I first moved here.:lol:

Last year I had the pretty shocking experience of such a person standing quite close to me as I was sitting down looking at his daughter's baby. For a moment through the corner of my eye I thought it was a topless woman standing next to me ..... .... On getting home I had to delete quite a few photos because they were too 'X' rated for anybody's consumption!

I've obviously lead a sheltered life - I had to google "what is a budgie smuggler?"

Hilarious about the socks and sandals thing too - I thought only Brits did that.

I've just been told the guy is away when we are in Hungary so there won't be any X rated photos! It crossed our mind to buy him a decent pair of swimming trunks ...... his budgie smugglers are well past their sell by date!
