As well as Allianz, the Magyar Post Office now does house insurance, even for isolated hill top houses that are often left empty. Not expensive by UK standards given the risk.

They wouldn't do it for us, or if I remember correctly the insurance didn't include storm/ lightning/ fire damage.

As a holiday home, "Intasure" will do it for less than most I know, do a google for a quote

Wow - that was worrying - rushed to the policy documents & checked (or to be more honest someone who knows the language checked). The Post Office now offer full cover.

Clearly prices need to be compared with others at renewal.
