Grow your own Xmas tree
The best one to grow is Abies Nordmanniana - this is the 'no needle drop Nordmann fir'. If you buy a 2 metre big boy here at Xmas, you can pay a fair bit, maybe £40-50.
So grow your own! That's what we're doing. I got my first 15 in 2012, they are doing fine. Unfortunately due to dryness/ drought they are not as big as they could be, maybe coming up to a metre now. These guys cut me a decent price for 15 instead of 20
Abies nordmanniana (Nordmann Fir) 4 Year Old (2+2) Bare Root - 20-30cm - Pack of 10 - RHS Endorsed
We lost a couple, absence = no watering.
Then last year my son said he wanted to plant another row in the Xmas tree plantation, this time we got 20 I think from these guys

They were probably slightly better & bigger than the first suppliers.
Both cost similar ie about £1.50 a junior tree 30-40cm.
All his ones are doing well - I got my son to count how many survived and he said 32.
So that's a few Xmas's sorted out for trees, I think that would make me 87
