Garden Centre recommendations

With autumn planting time approaching does anyone have recommendations for a good garden centre. I want to get some fruit trees and a variety of roses planted. I am near Tapolca but will travel. Thanks.

Do they have Garden Centres in Hungary ? In other parts of Eastern Europe there are more traditional markets where you buy things for the garden.

Shop - Market - Garden Centre - all recommendations will be gratefully received.

We've bought quite a number of fruit trees from OBI before now and most of them have taken well and fruited within 2 years. In spring and autumn they sell for about 1,000huf each.
We also bought some blueberry bushes and some other shrubs from a local Sunday market but they all died off.
Near here there are 2 or 3 garden centres but we never really use them due to inconsistent opening hours.

If you're willing to consider mail order, I can recommend pflanzmich.de in northern Germany. I have the plants delivered to me in Germany and take them down to Hungary myself, but they will ship directly to Hungary for 19 EUR + 15% of the order value.

I have been using them for years, have been very pleased with the quality, and find their prices very competitive compared to garden centres or other local outlets, even in Hungary.

You'd have to navigate their website in German. I'm just a satisfied customer, btw!

Two nurseries I have been pleased with:

One is in Nagykapornak, on the south side of the 76 east of Zalaegerszeg, directly behind a filling station. It has very irregular staffing times. (I hesitate even to say "opening hours"; I suspect they mainly sell wholesale.)

Another is at the very western tip of Zalaegerszeg, where the Körmendi út (the main road west-northwest out of Zalaegerszeg) meets the 76.

I've only bought conifers from these, though, so I don't know whether they will have what you're looking for.

Hi
Have you looked in Gyulakeszi, (about 3km from Tapolca) There is a tree nursery there which has a good stock of fruit and ornamental trees and shrubs.

To find the nursery you go into Gyulskeszi from the Tapolca end and you go through the village until the church, just before the church you turn left. Go down this road, keeping to the right and at the end, just before the timber yard there is the nursery. Sorry I don't know the name of the nursery.

In Keszthely besides the OBI (which in my wife's opinion is often too expensive) there's an OASIS on the main road near the Interspar - this seems to be part of a chain.
We found their people very helpful and they have a lot of trees.
For smaller plants we go to a little garden center just across the Balaton Museum in the south of Keszthely.
