Good evening , thats a bit of dissapointing news, im waiting to book my flights and it looks like im going to have to book Luton or Gatwick to Budapest, Are there any quicker ways to reach Balaton, than flying to Budapest. I've noticed people mentioning flying into Graz and other airports. Any ideas ? Thanx

Hi Jackyb, personally I prefer the drive to Graz, it's very scenic and flights are at times cheaper than to Budapest - if booked in advance. We have also used Zagreb several times and it takes us less time to drive there than Budapest (including the border point) though flights are usually more expensive. The difficulty comes if you are reliant on public transport from Graz or Zagreb, it is possible but you have to check carefully. You can check the price to each of the airports at www.skyscanner.net

Hi Klarika, SCD Group confirmed last week that they are still in negotiations with Ryanair and contracts have not been signed. Before this they were saying flights would start in April, guess they have now extended this to May. Personally, until I hear from Ryanair, I am ignoring anything that SCD Group/Flybalaton say as they led so many people to believe that contracts were signed and flights due to resume in April, upsetting their plans for the Easter break.

Oh, that's interesting. Do you know which email he contacted them at and received the reply from as Ryanair are notorious for not having email contact details? Would be very useful for people to know so that confirmation can be sought. Thanks

Hi, yes that's the same person who has been emailing people for weeks saying they recommence in April, would take what she says with a pinch of salt. The latest has been Flybalaton confirming that negotiations are still ongoing. So still a case of wait and see.

Hi All
If we can get an email address for Ryanair then we can all bombard them with emails !!! I am really unsure if these flights are going to start again - cant believe that Ryanair would leave it so long as they would need the flights booked ...... Easter is now a drive for us - so think of us when we drive over !!!! Still havent booked anything other flights but thats down to a optimistic husband personally I dont think so !!!

Hi Jenn, Ryanair rarely reply to emails with regards to routes - or anything else for that matter. I once managed, after bombarding every Ryanair email account I could find, to get them to reply. However, it was only to inform me that by joining their mailing list, I could receive updates on new routes!! I agree that it doesn't look promising at present, though I do believe SCD group will eventually entice one of the budget airlines - whether it's 2011 or 2012 remains to be seen.

Good luck should you decide to drive
