So if contracts have been signed and everything is done and dusted - as SCD Group claim, why has the Stanstead - Balaton route not been announced by Ryanair?

I don't doubt it will happen but I am beginning to suspect that SCD Group may have jumped the gun somewhat
Am beginning to think that way myself am seriously looking at booking my flights through Easyjet Budapest route - I just cant see Ryanair waiting this long to get the flights on their system they would want them all booked - wouldnt they ??? I have now waited longer than I said I would and the flights have gone up with Easyjet already but am so reluctant to go and book when I could have a really easy journey if Ryanair came up with the goods......

It is so frustrating - my daughter wants to come home at Easter but as she can only come for 4-5 days, it isn't really worth flying to Budapest or Graz. Until we know whether flights will resume, she can't plan anything.

I am really agonising over the Easter thing to and everyday the price seems to go up - soon we will be priced out of coming and its so handy because of the two bank holidays so close together a golden opportunity to have some real time out there without using up all our precious holiday in one go !!!! I am going to give it a couple more days then I am just going to bite the bullet and pay the price !!!! You watch the minute I book the flights will go live on Ryanair.............

Oh, I hope that doesn't happen Jenn. For once, I don't have anything to suggest

They say flights will resume but I have a feeling we were here before with Cape Aviation. If it were any company other than Ryanair, I would be more optimistic.

I found this http://www.ryanair.com/en/cheap-flig...apest-hungary/ on the Ryanair website under "flights to Hungary", it is sad really
There is a comprehensive list of new flights for 2011- no mention of here...

After they pulled out of Budapest, they announced flights to Balaton as of April 2011. Since then they have gone quiet on the subject with further confirmation only coming via SCD Group (new owners of the airport) who are unable to give us any idea of when flights will be available.

This has now been added to the Ryanair site:
01-Feb-11 Ryanair Adds 11 New Marseille Summer Routes

It's ridiculous that this close to April, more information is not yet being provided.

Hello all, i purchased a house in Balatonlelle in 2007 and flew many times to Balaton Airport but last year was travelling Bristol to Budapest, i got quite excited to receive an email on 11th january off Henrietta Lasics Hontvari from Balaton Airport stating that Ryanair was recommencincing their flights from Stansted in April, I have not been over since Ryanair pulled out of Budapest and am waiting patiently for news from either Fly Balatonor Ryanair. Any news will be gratefully received, thanx

Hi Jackyb and welcome to the forum. Several people have had the same email from Henrietta and as of the 25th of January, she was still saying that flights would recommence but that she could not provide further information!!

Not very helpful for those hoping to book flights over the Easter holidays!

Hi Jackyb we are all in the same boat here......I will try the local tourist information offices tomorrow and see if I can find out anything more but SCD are not even replying to emails so I am rapidly coming to the conclusion that this is not going to happen - I will also check with our estate agent in Keszthely.

Hi Jenn, I don't think you will find anyone with further information and I don't even think a recently claimed "Ryanair" announcement was genuine - I stand to be corrected but I think someone perhaps stumbled upon an old press release from when they first flew to Balaton and didn't notice the date.

Had Ryanair announced, as claimed, that flights were to commence as of April, we would have heard something more by now.
So focusing only on what I know to be fact, the last that was heard from Ryanair was a statement in November confirming they were in talks with SCD. The only confirmation that flights will resume has come from Henrietta at SCD, in actual fact, no one has ever confirmed that the contract was agreed and with the recent merger, it could be the case that the contract has not been finalised nor signed - hence SCD group having no idea regards the schedule.

Should someone have the time, perhaps they could email SCD group asking for confirmation that Ryanair have signed a contract to provide flights from the UK, why there is a delay in announcing a flight schedule and when their website will be live.

Dear MS Rolfe,

EMAIL RECEIVED FROM SCD GROUP TODAY 8.2.11 - DOESNT SOUND HOPEFULL !!!!!

I regret to inform you that the negotiations have not yet been completed. However, will notify you immediately as soon as we can provide further information.

Yours sincerely

Hi Jenn, thanks for that, I would have emailed them but they don't reply to me... Maybe something to do with me enquiring why this airport seems to be permanently held hostage by Ryanair instead of making concerted efforts to establish a relationship with Easyjet or Wizzair

I suspected something like this as Ryanair has never confirmed that the negotiations were successful and the business of the merger would surely have delayed the signing of contracts. I also wondered whether their surprising uturn - having announced they would never fly into Balaton again due to the outstanding debts of CAA, only to announce weeks later that they were in negotiations with SCD - was an attempt to apply pressure on their negotiations with Budapest over charges. I hope not but agree it is not looking promising.
Thank goodness there is the option of three other airports. Admittedly, not as convenient but it could be worse and hopefully, in time, the UK route will be sorted out.
