You are right - to a point that researchers can over think - but pollution does cause problems. Air pollution is particularly problematic since if it is there you can't avoid it. I remember the smogs of London where " Government medical reports in the following weeks, however, estimated that up until 8 December (Great London smog from December 5th to December 9th 1952), 4,000 people had died as a direct result of the smog" Whilst that was an extreme example of man made pollution causing problems there are issues where a continuous low level of pollution causes long tern health problems. Smoking does not guarantee a death from lung cancer but 20 years ago who would have thought that passive smoking could give health issues. Not many types of pollution will kill (quickly) but long term can and do affect the quality of life and can eventually shorten it.

Not too much OT:
Just read in our local adverising the prices for firewood - around 18 000 HUF per cubic meter, depending on the type of wood.
Having it cut into 25 or 33 cm is just 1000 HUF more expensive per cubic meter than getting 1 m logs.
The prices include tramsport to your garden.

What sort of cubic meter are the adverts talking about?
Logs are normally sold by the 'forestry cubic meter' which measures 1m x 1m x 1.7m
Cut up firewood is usually sold by the cubic meter which as you would expect is 1m x 1m x 1m. but then is the cubic meter stacked or thrown into a 1m3 box because there is a lot of difference between stacked and thrown in when it comes to the amount you get for the volume.

Re seasoned wood:
We let the wood for our kandallo rest at least one and a half years.
Re measuring the volume:
Have to confess that I haven't looked at this - relied on my neighbour's advice thatthe price was good.

I had a load of wood delivered for my trip in October to use in the new wood oven, I only have a small cottage but if heated the whole place and didn't need to use my electric panels at all. Toasty!
