Re: Driving from UK to Hungary in 2 weeks
Won't be long now before our big adventure. Just to update, we now have our low emission sticker for Germany. We have also change our location. We are staying at a hotel in Harkany and looking at a house in Felsoszentmaton, near the Drava river. We had a job getting in contact with some of the estate agents for some other houses we wanted to look at. They just didn't reply to our emails. Need to avoid Slovenia on our way there & back as we have no vignette for there. Our original trip to where we were staying avoided Slovenia, but our current location doesn't, so will have to go a longer way round.

As per my previous post on the other thread.
Buy the Slovenian vignette once you are down there, last service area before you leave Austria - its well worth the 15Euros and saves you loads of time.
No brainer for me.

Well, got back from Hungary last night. Had a great trip. Oh and bought a house. Eeek! Went for the one in Felsoszentmaton, way down in the south. Needs decorating and a tidy up, but nothing structural. Was confused by the fireplace in the bathroom, but hey ho. Got to go back in 3 to 4 weeks to sign the papers & pick up the keys. Bought it through Duna House in Pecs. The estate agent, Gabor spoke very good English & talked us through everything & what taxes we need to pay & lawyer fees. The area is really beautiul & the people seemed really friendly (got a few waves when driving through). Will be staying for a couple of weeks when we next go down & do a bit of work. Popped into Praktiker to price up a few things and won't cost a great deal to sort out. Terrace & hallway need new tiles (wife says) and a bit of rendering on the terrace walls, plus stripping the old wallpaper & repainting. Lovely bathroom though. Needs no work at all (apart from maybe removing the fireplace). All good fun.

You are in the south! It is beautiful around there. We live in a village Hosszuheteny just to the east of Pecs. PM me if you fancy meeting up when you return.
