How do you pronounce Coop?
My Hungarian wife prounces it as 'Co-op' as in Uk.
I've always prounced it as 'Coop' (koop).
But should it be 'choop'?

I would say co-op is correct as Hungarians don't usually merge vowels or create diphthongs.

For example (pun intended!) "Például" is pronounced "pell da ool" (sorry, don't know the correct phonetics) as apposed to the English, who would probably say, "pel dawl".

Definitely not "choop" as that would have to be spelt "csoop".

I've always heard it pronounced as coop or k-uup. If I remember I'll ask Gabor the dogs trainer when I see him today.

I asked Gabor how Hungarians pronounce Co-op. According to him it's pronounced "cope" as in "I can't cope any longer"

She said it's 'cop' (kop). Different pronounciations!

Google translate says co op (actually more like coo op!)!

I can see this is going to run and run!

In UK I pronounced bath and grass as they are spelt but some pronounce them as "barth" and "grarse"!
It'll be a massive coup if we get to the bottom of how coop is pronounced.

You wouldn't think 3 / 4 letters could produce so many combos!

Might need an Enigma machine soon!
