Re: Buying & Selling a Hungarian car.
OK ..... heres how it HAS been done.
Firstly the local MOT (whatever you call it there) has no validity on a UK car, although at least it would tell you if the car was safe to drive and in working order. However, you will find a company somewhere that will insure it, and should you be in an accident, in theory they are bound to pay out third party. In theory.
If you drove to the UK then when you arrived at the port you would be illegal .... however, if you have pre booked an MOT at a local station in Dover then in theory if you are stopped then you are covered as you can drive an un mot'd car to a pre booked MOT appointment.
So really it is down to you to find out if you can get the car insured to drive over Europe until you reach the UK
I reiterate here details of what others have done, and am in no way recommending this course of action personally or on behalf of BE.

Thanks Mitzy but if I were to take it to the UK it would for sure be transported there. There is no way I would risk driving it without an MOT.

Re: Buying & Selling a Hungarian car.
There are quite a few car carrier/transporter companies throughout the UK (www.shipley.com www.locargo.com) and europe, but these are not cheap. However there is a company which specialises in car transporting in Hungary, which may be cheaper. I have had no dealings with them so I cannot comment. They are based in Gyor, and their name is: Gyori Fuvarozo Gepjarmujavito es Kereskedelmi Zrt. (excuse the lack of accents on my keyboard). I hope this helps.

The other alternative is to send it on a 13.6 mtr trailer as groupage. As long as the trailer operator has loading facilities, i.e. a ramp, it would be the cheapest method.
From Spain people charge £500 + upwards, so car transporters are going to be costly I'm guessing from where you are
