Thumbs up Buying modelling supplies in Hungary

My husband is an avid RC balsa airplane builder, but finding modelling supplies in Hungary is proving tricky
Does anyone know where we can buy nitrate dope , either in Hungary or in the EU?
Have found places in UK, etc, but either they won't ship to Hungary, or the shipping costs are horrendous.

Would be very grateful for any info

Have you gone online with search
A quick dip in showed
Balsafa modellrepülőt készíteni – Hogyankell.hu
with an email address of [email protected]
They may be able to help
However I understand it is now illegal to fly model aircraft in Hungary thanks to the proliferation of drones. In order to fly drones individual permission is needed for each flight, permission is of course a changeable event.

Thank you for that, Peter. Unfortunately it is a Wiki site, so no products for sale. I didn't know about the no-fly thing. Must research that, as hubbie currently has a Piper cub and a fokker triplane under construction.

Found some info, and I think we will be okay:

If:

  • Not used for commercial purposes

You must:

  • Observe basic safety obligations
  • Remain away from people and goods

You must not:

  • Fly at night
  • Fly over private properties without the consent of the owner
  • Operate above crowds, industrial sites, urban areas and other restricted areas or impede manned aircraft
  • Fly above 100 meters
  • Endanger the life of other people

Makes sense, I have already emailed an (ex) colleague at HungaroControl for clarification, I expect he will confirm the above.

A quick read of the link shows that a permit is required and in the 'what is included in the application' bit is
"The date of the proposed operation in Hungarian format (YYYY.MM.DD.) and time in UTC (for eg.: 2017. Július 20. – 2017. Július 29. SR-SS)
So it appears that you can request a from and to date, experience will say how far apart the from and to dates can be. There doesn't appear to be the opportunity to put in multiple places.

Yes, remember to quote UTC not CET!

Try www.rchungary.com Can't find Nitrate dope but they do sell SIG Koverall which I guess Hubby will know is a heat shrink cloth used in much the same way to cover wings etc, simply glue the edges and then warm with heat gun.

There are some good model shops in Budapest, all who ship to your address. Check out Replica Models, Model & Hobby, Vasútmodell-Centrum. If they don't stock what you need they will do their best to get it or telly you where to get it.
