Brexit Celebrations
I've noticed one of my good friends has changed his FB profile photo to the Union Jack flag. Might change mine to EU flag but probably be safer to Hungarian flag so I don't lose any more friends!!! Funny enough the friend mentioned it's his turn to invite us for supper .... we're still waiting. No doubt tomorrow he will be celebrating but for me .... I will be mourning this event. Long term will Hungary remain in EU?

But yes, a sad day.
Long live Europe!

Re: Brexit Celebrations
My neighbour on one side has put up a large England flag behind their back bedroom window. I'm not sure if this is Brexit related or the Rugby Six Nations. He's never done this before!!!!

Re: Brexit Celebrations
What I found very disturbing is that in the night of the 31st. of Jan there were Brits gathering on Parliament Square in London and were burning EU flags. Some were also not burning EU flags, others were also trampling on it.
Burning flags is something I've only seen on TV in some Arabic countries, when they burn US-flags. However that Brits are doing this in London, really makes one think, how cultivated the country really is.
This is totally aside from just having different opinions.

Re: Brexit Celebrations
Invite them over, let them wait at the non-EU passport line, let them see how nice and civilised the rest of the continent is, let them go home with their ONE carton of duty-free ciggies and ONE bottle of Fütyülős
If possible suggest they come by car and bring their dog, let them plan their trip 4 months in advance for the rabies jabs etc, the International Drivers Permit, the insurance green card etc.etc.
Then take them to really nice places and show them what a great time you're having in the EU

They were never friends anyway imo and vice versa. I find peoples reactions/opinions/behaviour not shocking, depends on the life experiences that you have had in work/leisure.

Re: Brexit Celebrations
Just got to find a way of repelling the brexit voting relatives when they invite themselves over (again).

By the way, if you - on a public forum of strangers - boast of ditching your "friends" just because of their democratic choices, that doesn't reflect particularly well on you.

Re: Brexit Celebrations
Anyone who invites themselves for a relatively free holiday friends/family should have the manners to ask' and not assume. If congenial company family/friends, then they should be intelligent enough to realise that folk have their own opinion on anything, which is normal. If only people could agree to disagree and leave it life would be better. The way to repel is to say "no" and you can repel the chaff. My few and far friends have sometimes different opinions and vice versa, aired them, but that is nothing to do with true friendship. Truth sometimes hurts. Get rid of negative people and enjoy life ...imo.
