The situation here is different to that in England.

Here you put a sign on the gate as wolfi said. This protects you to some extent as you have warned people.
In England you do not put a sign on the gate because that shows that you know your dog bites and so increases your liability should anything happen.

What a Beautiful dog. The loss of one of our canine friends is always heart breaking.. I know the feeling. I have 4 dogs right now 3 are more than 13 years old and I am expecting next year I may lose at least 1 dog. I have a 14 year old Beagle who is now blind and has a cancerous tumor on her side that is growing. She is not yet suffering pain but when she does I will have her PTS.

It sure is gut wrenching losing a dog. No more dogs for us after our existing dogs die. My heart couldn't take any more lossess.
