Re: Where to eat this year?
Had a very good meal in a place called Restaurant 42, has a separate bar which is very nice to sit in and just relax after dinner, or before. It is at the Coconut Inn which has been taken over by an English couple, only does European food, but the fish and chips were great as was my friends New York Salad and the French onion soup was as good as you get in France. Also try the chocolate terrine for pudding.

Excellent meal, but how he will cope with 50 diners I do not know!. Tony's Place has got his new resturant down the lane by side of the Casa Sea Shell best fish and chips in Candolim. Wilson from Snow Inn has opened his own place down the lane past the Bistro called Wilsons. (or was he called Winston) whatever. BISTRO oh YUMMY YUMMY. There is the best Chinese/european place used to be called the Tiger Trail up the next lane to NEWTONS supermarket. Prawn Toast to die for. BBQ spare ribs everything excellent. You will not get a better Chinese meal. Both Rising Waves and Sea Shell have a Tandoori. Anybody know any more good clean places, does not have to be cheap just clean and nice. (just before Millwall - starts again) |

We should have some sort of sign to say 'we are your invisible friends/or foe ' in the case of Trolls. |
Re: Where to eat this year?
This is not an advert for my neighbour but SOUYMANS is the best restaurant we have ever eaten in in Goa.
Including before you ask M - Marriot - Lella - Taj Fort Aguada - Banyan Tree etc etc and yes I have stayed there 3 times and in lots of Taj hotels all over India once going up from Goa and staying in Taj India Gate for 1 night and flying back down the next day and have stayed in the 7* in Dubai. Got side tracked but could not avoid it Souyman is our neighbour and when we met him a couple of days before he opened he said they were - cleaning - cleaning - cleaning and the staff thought he was mad when he told them to get a needle and clean the dirt out of the corners. That is what I call cleaning as we have been in the catering business all our lives. We have eaten there a couple of times in the last few weeks and are going again this week and we are not eating out people except the Navtara in Mapusa and Mutto in Panjim (Udipi - veggie) |
Re: Where to eat this year?
Forgot to say where it is -
Go from Calangute towards Candolim - it is the road opposite After8 where he was the chef/owner a couple of season ago. Go past the church that is in the middle of the road and go onwards from there - the taxi driver will know where it is. There is a small Hindu temple on the S bend - you are now there. Enjoy the food - a mains is about 300 - the sizzler is 280 ish but not with cabbage burning stuff as in other places. |

Excellent place, excellent food, perhaps Millward the pillock will go there and taste real Goa. If you stay here for 6 months of course, you can eat at elegant places, there is no need for the 5 star c..p treatment. which is just a glorified McDonalds For you poor FN's we have just, because we are so poor, been to Wilsons next door down to Bistro. He used to have Snow Inn - excellent food, :thumbup:excellent hospitality, excellent prices. Give it a try at least you will not find ......... there. |
Re: Where to eat this year?
I wonder why Marriott or any other starred resturant hires chefs by spending thousands of dollars when they can get better chefs in Goa. There is so much that you guys are unaware of. Enjoy the food!!!
BTW ask you nebor (goans) when he buy a chicken from the market if he prefers a pre - cut chicken or a live chicken to be cut in front of his eyes........ |
Re: Where to eat this year?
You never cease to amaze me Milward with your stupid comments, why do you come to Goa???? your to much of a snob to be living in such an unclean place.
I wonder why! the Marriott and such wonderful starred hotels pay their chefs so much? because they are sure wasting their money when there are so many self taught chefs locally throughout goa that provide meals fit for kings. You really are a pretentious snob. The best mussels in town are found at Vicky's next to the fish market in Calangute, i'm no snob i'll eat anywhere. |

While in UK have booked Windsor Castle and Buckingham Palace for B&B. And peasants on this forum say I are a snob...........or was it a knob? Re: Where to eat this year?
We tried a lovely place called Valentino's Exotica last night, following a recommendation. We were not disappointed !
Their first season at probably the worst time in the history of the Universe in general and Goa in particular. Also not in the best location (in Valentino's Resort, just past Shanta Durga Temple and before Prazeres Resort on the road to Nerul). So needs some support. A multi - cuisine menu of excellent food served in salubrious surroundings, with excellent service, not the cheapest around , but reasonable. Great hostess in the form of Anglo-Indian Prudence. See what you think.:thumbup: |
