Vote now - Two Sections or One?

Opinion has been divided on this subject. The new section "What's Goan On?" was created due to complaints about it being difficult to find the serious discussions around all the chit-chat threads. However it seems there are some that don't like the new section. So in order to get a clear picture of what is wanted I've started this poll so you can all have a vote.

Majority Wins.

Thanks all.

PS. If you are going to comment in this thread please be nice, there is no need for rudeness, arguing or derogatory comments.

Sorry, Sue!

'Goa' had been a very busy section and now seems to be dying by the day. Splitting it into 2 sections may not have caused the dip in postings but, with the difficulties everyone seems to have with broadband, maybe it did.

Thanks Sue, just hope all those who have complained to me and you will vote. It is very difficult connecting to the internet from here - to-day is a good day, the first for weeks.

Hesitantly say this.... :sneaky: ..... but how about a Chit-chat section or, at the very least, a Pub, for whole of Far East and Asia ?

I like Pubs

Re: Vote now - Two Sections or One?

Dont forget that posters on BE can post anywhere they want, sad jokes or not

Please dont let us derail a thread. I seem to remember it was the members here that wanted the off topic section. Its a shame to lose it, but thats your choice (or not), I can only say it seems to work in all other areas of the forums where it has been introduced.

Shame about the internet connections, I know it can be a real pain! :)

Re: Vote now - Two Sections or One?

<sigh> Lets not derail this thread folk.

Constructive criticism is welcome but no more personal attacks. There is no need.

I, for one, like the jokes, I like the serious stuff, I like the chit-chat, and I like the way that you help each other. That's what makes BE so great, because we have something for everyone ;)

You don't have to agree, or even get on with everyone, and we have all sorts of personalities on BE, as in real life. So lets all agree to disagree without the personal comments.

And for those that don't like another person please don't start jumping down their throats, but rather don't respond to a post if you don't like it or put the other person on your ignore list.

Thank you

This will probably be deleted, but how can that insulting post be conceived as a response to msj5 (no relation)'s extremely polite post?

He clearly thinks he is responding to me.

Ps
Isnt democracy great?

You are getting your vote. Thats democracy for you. You asked for the section ... you got it. Now you dont want it, so you're getting the chance to remove it.

One poster responding to another like that? Well if the first post hadnt happened, then the second one wouldnt have either

I didnt ask for the new section, nor clearly did most others, as evidenced by the voting so far.

If that level of response is appropriate....................God help the forum!

Overtly polite post by one of the few actual ex-pats in Goa...........

"Please dont be offended but you only ever go to the top of the page to put your sad jokes that most of us are not interested in anyway. Are you actually interested in anything that happens in Goa ?"

Response from "Spanish" member.........

"I was asked by members of here to post jokes and am sorry you have a sad life and moan about people..Grow up and smile"

Ok, if thats acceptable manners on this forum now? .................Bring it on!

The acceptable manner on a forum is to not to screw up threads with unhelpful off topic posts ..... which is why we WERE asked to instigate the off topic section by the members here ... but carry on if you really feel you have to

I repeat ... ANYONE can post in any forum. Its a free range DEMOCRACY
In fact everyone can post in this vote, but I chose not to :)

I thought that this is a FORUM for people with something to say, where is the problem if some of us while in Goa or elsewhere want to sometimes discuss something not strictly related to Goa but possibly related to our lives.

K800 we will be back soon to the old format, where we can discuss anything. except on the sticky threads which have to be kept to the delegated subject.

Opening the new sub forum is extremely difficult in Goa using a dongle.
