Try copying & pasting this link into your browser:
http://economictimes.indiatimes.com/...ow/2762658.cms Apparently there were 16 countries on the visa on arrival list at first, then they added the USA & the UK - Lets just see how long it takes to come into force. Hemingway. |

Re: Visa problem in London today!
I'm sure the Q's will be horrendous - it makes it more important to book your seats so your one of the first off the plane! Still, it won't be as bad as being a 'tourorist' trying to get into fortress USA - From 03/08 you are going to have to give all TEN finger prints! And then they are talking about having to get 'an advance travel authorisation' 3 or 4 days before you actually travel! Deep joy - can't see me going to Florida again anytime soon until things have calmed down/sorted themselves out!

Re: Visa problem in London today!
I seem to spend half my life at the high commission getting either my visa or ones for my children when they decide at the last moment that they want to go to Goa.
I was at the high commission in September and luckily missed the big rush, I was there again on 2nd Jan busy but not too bad and I was there on Tuesday this week, still very busy, I arrived at 8.45 and my Q number was 187, I eventually got my visa at 11.45. I know they have started accepting postal applications but I do not feel confident with sending in my passport, has anyone tried the postal system recently? Also has anyone managed to get a visa for longer than 6 months, I did ask but was told they were only available as business visas, not for tourists. As we visit Goa 3 / 4 times a year I seen to always need two visas and would love to get away with just visiting the high commission once a year. |

:confused:Hi powerhouse, We got new visas by post in early February. They came back within 10 days, best so far and we have been going for 6 years now. As long as you send them by special delivery, pay for them to come back special delivery and pay by either postal order or bankers draft (postal order is cheaper) there shouldn't be a problem.

Does anyone know what they are like? also what is the weather like, I gather there has been some unseasonable rain? |

Well we can live in hope, if they don't do something prior to the games the whole system will grind to a halt. I'm not fussed about the 180 day stamp, at the moment there is no chance of me being able to stay more than 2-3 weeks at a time.

Jet is much better to fly with than BA - but Sri Lanka Airways is better again, but have to go Goa-colombo-Heathrow to long a flight. Have a lovely holiday. Take your own sunbed  shacks will be closing down by then.  |

We usually get out at this time as its much quiter and reminds us of how things used to be |

Well thats good to hear, you never know what to expect when you use a new airline. I have heard that Air Lanka is good but I don't fancy the longer flight.
