Snips

Has anybody visited Snips for a massage? My daughter is visiting in January and wants a body massage. When she was younger she used to get one on the beach but now at the old age of 19 she would prefer something a little more professional.

Had a full body massage at Snips in panjim, its was wicked, very relaxing but very expensive rp 1.700, girls arent cant do massages down the beach only if you go round the back of the shacks or inside.

Is that the same "Simply Beautiful" that used to be quite near Falcon Resort,
Think it might have had a Russian owner?

Same one - same staff - they had to move out of Masquerade building quite quickly and that's where they went.

Just seen the new Snips pricelist on the desk - the prices have shot up since the beginning of the season.

Aha! The good old system of Goan economics at work again, innit?

Trade goes down, so...
The prices go up, so...
Trade goes down further, so...
The prices go up further, so...
Trade goes down further still, so...
The prices go up even more, so...
A man from Delhi turns up with a wad of cash and says..
"You have no customers, your debts are great, you once had a good name and that is what I will give you this pathetic amount of cash for"
So they take it, and the whole cycle starts again.....................

And we are told daily almost that India has a growing economy?

We all used to go round the back of Bobbys shack for a massage years ago but we have not been there for a while.

I noticed the new Snips between Candolim & Callangute, is it the same owner as the Panjim one? rp 1.700 does sound expensive but if its good its worth it. I will have to book her in as a treat.

Tomorrow I will have a look at the price list and tell you how much the massage is now.

Same owner as Panjim but this is really upmarket. Lots of Indian customers from the hotel across the road - nearlly run over a few of them in their haste to get across the road and into the beauty parlour.

If you read the back of the leaflet is says -

All prices are exclusive of Government Service Tax and are subject to change without notice.

So you have the 1700 plus the tax plus - and if you choose to tip - looking at about 2,000rps.

Who said you can't get a massage on the beach :sneaky: My wife wonders off to an unknown destination and has her massage a few times a week.
It is knowning where the girls are hiding themselves.
Afd - they make 1700 and more a day when they are allowed on the beach

This sounds right up her street, she loves to be pampered in luxurious surroundings, and has been working really hard recently so she does deserve it. Mind you I am only going to pay for a body massage if she wants any more than that she can fork out for it herself. You never know I may even treat myself..

We have yet to hear of anybody who has had a haircut in Snips - lots of domestic tourists going in but not seen many Europeans in there.
There was a good Russian stylist at Simply Beautiful last season - will find out if he is still there is you want to know.

I had a haircut at Snips in November as my UK hairdresser had to cancel me at short notice just before I went to Goa. I got the top stylist and he was very good. I have short hair which grows quickly so it's high maintenance. I was very pleased and it cost a third of what I pay here.

I had an excellent pedicure and manicure there yesterday, a fantastic end to what has been a not very relaxing holiday. Snip isn't cheap for Goa but it is compared to the UK.

Hi Noni,

Sorry, been and gone and not much of a break, you know what it's like. We should be back in Goa around April but not booked yet. Will get in touch when we have a date, providing you are still there. Can't wait until we are long termers too, but we still need the day job for now.

Just been to Snips in Calangute. Walked in and had my hair cut immediately (it is Monday so maybe that it is why it was not busy).
I have (had) shoulder length hair and had about 3" cut off it and it was cut brilliantly by a young man named VAL.
Wash with a gentle head massage, cut - which he really took his time about - leave in conditioner - blow dry - cost 560rps. (plus his tip) Looking at the price list thought it was going to be the cut price plus the wash and conditioner but was pleasantly suprised when the haircut price included everything.
Very pleased with it and will recommend him to anyone - just rang a friend and she is going to go round now to see if he can cut hers!!

noni Jan 18th 2009 10:41 pm

Re: Snips

Quite agree, I had 2 inches cut off my hair restyled, wash conditioned and blowdried. 560 rups with a guy called WAI
he took 40 mins to cut my hair. Very very pleased, will be back before we go home in March.

emsirrah Jan 18th 2009 11:53 pm

Re: Snips

Think it is the same young man - when they said his name it sounded like it started with a W so I asked him to write it down and VAL is what he wrote then he said it again and I thought he said Wal :D
He took the same kind of time to cut mine - brilliant.
Did look at the manicure and pedicure price - 1100 which I think is a bit steep when the hair cut is 560 - don't know - depends on what is involved I suppose.

Re: Snips

I had a manicure and pedicure a week last Saturday, the day I left to come home. It took an hour and 20 minutes and hands and feet were done at the same time. It includes exfoliating, massage, hard skin removal plus all the usual nail treatments, and a shoulder and neck massage. All profesionally done in quiet surroundings with cup of coffee. For me it was worth the 1200 rps for both.

emsirrah Jan 19th 2009 1:04 pm

Re: Snips

To be honest it is "the quiet surroundings" I found to be a little strange. I am used to going to a salon in Mapusa for a manicure and pedicure and it is full of girls chatter - to each other and customers - they all come and ask me the same questions and I like it.
Yesterday it was silent in Snips even though there were about 5 people in there. None of the staff spoke to the clients except for instructions about treatment and when I spoke to the young man who was cutting my hair I got the impression it was "not the done thing" for the stylist to speak much. I even started to whisper to him like it was secret - but saying that he was very good at his job and it will now be my "local".

Perhaps I should go then..........cries of

"poo, smelly feet" "open a window someone" "gorgonzola in India?"

that would break the silence. Then of course the angle-grinder (as you can see, I am made of metal) would truly shatter the peace!

Just though I would up date you with our visit to Snips. My daughter and I had the full body aromatherapy massage which lasted 60 minutes and cost Rs1700 + tax.
We decided to have a twin room as neither of us had had anything like this before only a beach massege. we were take to a softly lit room and given a towel and a packet containing a very small pair of disposable knickers, fine for my size 8 daughter interesting for me, however I was surprised how far they streatched.
We then spent 15 minutes in a steam room, after that the massage 60 minutes of sheer bliss worth every rupee. Soft music, the wonderful smell of perfumed oils, just what we needed. By the time we had showered and had a cup of tea we had been there for over 90 minutes.
Needless to say we will be return again.

Hi, re haircuts, I had long hair and was feeling the heat in November so I went to the barbers in Arpora that my husband goes to and had a young man cut my hair very short. It has grown out quite a lot now but still looks good because it was very well cut. The cut cost 50 rupees.
