Ah Goa for good food that's a bit different and location location; Riverside for cheap and cheerful, Florentines for authentic Goan and good value.

If you are in the mood for good cheap N Indian style tandoori chicken and biryani, there's a a place in the plaza next to the Cafe Coffee Day in Candolim. It's a small place, with some tables out front, nothing fancy. But, the food is good and cheap. You might not see too many people sitting in the restaurant, and that's because they do a lot of takeaway business. Also, I don' think they serve alcohol.

Also, don't go to the pizza restaurant that's next to the cafe coffee day. The pizza is crap and expensive. The crust is more like a biscuit than a pizza.

Johnnie's Bar which is just over the Nerul Bridge going from Candolim to Panjim is a local bar where the food is always very good and cheap too.
No luxury frills and a bit of a wait for your food whilst they cook from fresh but they will cook it exactly how you ask for it and the service is friendly.

Also the Bhatti Bar - past Nerul Bridge and on about 1/2 mile to where there is a crossroads and a few shops - turn left and just keep going on what seems to be the 'dark road to nowhere' and Bhatti bar is about a mile along on the left. Food is cheap but absolutely superb and the service second to none. The place was closed last seasonand had a full refurb done. Well worth a visit if you can find it.

last two days we went to WOK N ROLL just past sweet chili, its not cheap but fantastic food. We had, spare ribs, fish cakes, complimentary salad, three beers, one soft drink, rs 680. the view of the water with candolim church in the background was really nice.

Why two threads on restaurants now? The 'Good Restaurants' was a useful reference. Can't the two be combined and made a 'sticky'?

Rising Waves for good steak and fish dishes. Jazz Corner for variety of indian, chinese, italian - all surprisingly good and reasonably priced with excellent service from the boys. Both in Candolim.

Well said Dave, same point I was trying to make in post #9.

One of the strengths of all forums is that they build a database that others can search in the future. Extended repetitive waffle doesn't aid this really, does it?

One dedicated thread as a "sticky" surely is the way to go?

With respect, Andy suggested it first and I just agreed.......

Sorry but I live in siolim and haven`t got a clue about where they do Dolphin trips in Candolim. Can you give a landmark off the main road.....this place sounds really good.

Is the meat in India as untrustworthy as I have heard? If so then I'm going to be getting my protein from tins of Tuna everyday
