Newtons Supermarket

Theres been an handbag ban at Newtons for a while, but they have compelled it today. If you go in with your handbag you won't be served. So I am boycotting it. I wouldn't leave my handbag anywhere. I would sooner be searched. Who do they think they are

Re: Newtons Supermarket

Next thing he will be having us all escorted round the shop individually.
It is not a shop I use because of his continual over pricing but like you refuse to give my handbag to anyone. The guard only has to turn his back for a couple of seconds and it could be anybodys handbag that has disappeared.
Had to stop the bike outside one day as the guard was backing a taxi off the carpark - who was watching (or even stealing) the handbags then.
Can you imagine what Newton would say if you wanted him to replace your £150 glasses, credit and debit cards, expensive purse and even more expensive handbag etc in the event it had been stolen.

Plus - I forgot - I have just been to the ATM Mr. Newton and drawn out 20.000rps

Re: Newtons Supermarket

bought some packs of spices there the other day - Newtons sticker said Rs. 35 - underneath the MRP was blacked out but could be read as Rs. 30.
I told the checkout girl the price should be 30 and that it was illegal to destroy the MRP labelShe just said "35" and rang it in.
Does anyone know if the Consumer dept is still in Panjim?

Try this Andy,

Last time I went into Newtons they stopped me taking my shopping bag in but not my handbag. I give my handbag to no one so if they are still doing it when I get back to Goa in October I will not be shopping there. I only go there anyway if I want something they have that I have not found elsewhere.

My wife just ignores the guard the twice she has had to go in there picks up a bag of ice (gone up 10 rups) in the last two months. Won't give any of her bags to them. They have more staff following you around than serving. What is interesting is that there are a lot of people with goan private number plates shopping there, thus making me think the goans are getting to rich at our expense, as we cannot afford to shop there. :curse:

Re: Newtons Supermarket

Try AJays in Mapusa or Bardez Bazaar opposite the boys school (near the church in the middle of the road). Both have very nice staff and the new manager of the Bazaar used to manage Carrefour in Dubai, very sociable and likes to talk to foreigners.
You won't be able to get the vodka their though

I'm very happy to eard all your Newtown Supermarker stories !!!
And be not alone !!!

I'm french and I did scandal the other day... Not wanting to live my bag...
Ageeing to be checked before and after my shopping... No way !....

I also think that it's very easy for a gang to do hold up in that place and prefeared become customer in all others supermarket, even if it's easy to do shopping there.

I have no time to loose, but it would be very nice to print all our message and distribuate the same to all customer wanting to go insinde the market.
