more to moan about

Just when i thought i had moaned about most things, the Israelis, Russians, Domestic tourists, Greedy Goans, Prices, i have now found my new pet hate and i think this is the worst for me.
The Benaulim that i loved so much, is now FULL of old British tourists, and i do say old many 70s to 80s, sure they have as much right here as me, but please STOP telling waiters, restaurant owners etc etc just HOW CHEAP GOA IS!!!, i now find Goa expensive and not always good value.
These golden oldies have a lovely habbit of pre booking tables in restaurants that i have used for years, so im unable to get a seat.
Please stop overtipping this spoils he place for the rest of us.
This new crowd are the oldies that spoilt Spain etc, now its time they will spoil Goa further.
OH WELL, PROGRESS!!!!!!!

Oh dear, I'm rapidly approaching the goldenoldie era - or you will probably say I'm already there (63) but we're not all colour-rinsed hair etc. I know what you mean though, it's the same here in France, overtipping is a serious crime!
What's Benaulim like these days, I'm hoping to take on a villa there next winter.

Never seen the blue rinse brigade in Candolim. The ones I have met are out until 3.00 in the morning, having a ball, they also go on the Casino boats.
There is certainly more life in them than me.

'Ere! Spain is not spoiled. Sure, there some touristy areas that you'd probably avoid, but the country as a whole is a beautiful place to be. Its the same in the UK, same in most countries ... tourism is often a necessary evil

When i visit some Restaurants and Bars in Candolim and Calangute its almost as if your in 50s 60s Britain.Pub Quizzes, Bingo whist Drives and even outings.I thought people who emigrated or left the UK did so because of these boring pastimes. There is a lot to be said for rural India and the biggest thing is you wont find any of this boring sh**e to annoy you.

Bingo or Housey Housey is a big thing with the Goans. Festivals at chapels always have a game of Bingo and so did Aah Goa! when they were doing the sunday buffets.

Yes! but they did not give you a pen had to use tooth picks. Have been twice this year, was surprised that the Sunday brunch had finished as it was full the twice we went there. This is the only place I have come across
"housey" and it was only two free games.

I think you will find that the majority of people who emigrated or left the U.K. for Goa, did'nt do it to escape the "boring pastimes". Most did it to escape the crap weather and high cost of living.
Everybody knows that Goa is the "Blackpool" of India, Sinquirim to Baga being Goa's Golden-Mile, and I'm surprised that you cant buy Kiss-Me-Quick hats and sticks of rock here.
For all its faults and politics, I'm not ashamed to say that I still prefer being here than the U.K. (Most of the time) :)
