Are you sure you have understood this monsoon thing?

Most of the activities you describe plus shacks aplenty simply do not exist during monsoon time......closed down or impossible to run.
Plenty of agents but most will be shut, and "locals" dont do these tours, unless you mean Indian tourists, and these days they are comparative big spenders!
On the booze front, Port wine is sweet and thin, not a north European taste usually, KP is 100% right about Blue Ribbon Gin (Blue Ribband is a chocolate biscuit!) and sadly Old Monk is a Rum, not a Brandy.

.

whoops, as always you are correct J5, probably to much "brandy" and getting mucking fuddled in my old age.

This is next door to Baron in Panjim on the top floor. Excellent prices and service.

Hope you are used to the Monsoon. 99% of the shacks will be closed, and most of the restaurants outside town. Those that are open members have kindly reported on here. Have a good time, and welcome to Goa BE.

You are actually admitting that you can be wrong!!??

I have never seen you to be wrong in your advice regarding North Goa , but -not having been to the North for a long time maybe I am wrong in thinking you always right.

No, you are right thinking I can be wrong, frequently wrong, as is my basic right. If you were wrong that I am often wrong, remember two wrongs don't make a right.....................innit?

The best entertainment in the Monsoon is: Now wait until you think there is going to be a really good moonsoon rain & wind.

Get you self a Dog, and you and your partner and the Dog go on to the beach. You will also need some Paka-Macs. Now when the rain & wind starts, try holding the Dog lead while trying to get your arm into the Paka-Mac, with out getting soaked.

It's even better if you have a long walk off the beach to Home. Car or Scooter.

We have done this and Me my Wife and the Dog were soaked through. But we had a good laugh though.

yes remember last monsoon and being caught on scooter with mrs in several downpours, asbsolutley sodden by the time we got back to hotel as we were staying in then, remember being really cold, and i think i had trainers on and they were full of water also - which reminds me i better start thinking about getting a couple pairs of decent waterproofs.:)

umrellas in the monsoon, whats that all about when the rain comes at you horizontally

Totally agree with you Kerno - being a wine lover the wine there is 'orrible. Here we can get three bottles of really good wine, from all over the world on special offer for 750 rups for the three! That is what I call a real deal. Do enjoy Indian champagne, but too expensive to drink every day. Some of the tweekers bring a box of wine from UK.
Welcome Robinwood to BE.

Wine is improving though, Sula and Riviera are OK, but expensive in Goa.
Agree about the champagne; though again v. expensive in Goa, on our recent trip bought a bottle in Pune, to take to a party (can't remember the brand name) equiv. of £10 a bottle. In South Goa we saw the same brand being sold to a UK wedding party (by a shack), for equiv. of £35/ bottle. Even considering 'overheads' of storage this would seem ridiculous.

Must be mi standards is low Innit? Madera red? Can slurp that for uk equivalent of £3 per bottle, madera White - not too bad Innit, keep it ice cold though @ same £3 per bottle. Honeybee & ice gives me barking mad dreams but it is quite smooth for a 40%+ spirit - mcdowells brandy is quite nice too, not as sweet as honeybee. Glad I like them neat as the bloody mixers are more expensive than the spirit! Don't start on prices: £4.20 per pint for Guinness at the radisson Manchester airport hotel today.

Regards

Must admit I do drink Madera Red,( and white if there is nothing else) Have a nice Blossom Hill Red on the go at the moment for less than Madera.
Drunk all the Jacobs Creek. Newtons were selling Madera Red for 195 rups a bottle. Cheaper than Xaviers.
