late bookings

hi, we are regular visitors to goa we normally book as early as possible but this year because i am commited to some work that could go into the new year we have not been able to pinpoint a leaving date,it looks like we will be booking and then leaving more or less immediately, what or the chances of getting a good deal booking so late?.

Re: late bookings

Thats the six million dollar question. it all depends on market conditions. Ie, how many seats are left on the flights, the less there is the higher the price will be.so I suppose you could say its pot luck.

Around New Year I`d reckon your chances of even getting a flight at short notice are pretty slim ..let alone a deal!

Depends if you are prepared to go by charterflight or not - if you are, I think you've got a better chance of a good deal on a charter than scheduled.

From Manchester & Gatwick your charter options include Monarch, Thomas cook (2 flights per week) & Thompson - so thats at least 7 flights per week, I'm pretty sure you'll be able to get a last minute good deal on a charter.

If you're considering charter find out when the kids are due back to school and look for a flight out just as families with kids are flying back (there's often extra capacity).

Re: late bookings

Most years I have gone to Goa I have flown out on 31st Dec or 1st Jan.
I have found that flights on either of these days is considerably cheaper than any I have looked at in the preceeding two or so months. Also the flights each time have been only nearly full....maybe a lot don;t want to travel on these dates.
I haven't established whether this will be the case this coming season as I have booked to leave for Goa earlier in the season, and also Kingsfisher are no longer meaning less flight options which could affect things, but it may be worth you checking those dates Phil.

Good luck with it anyhow :fingerscrossed:
