Good Old Days

Does anyone remember the good old days when you landed in Dabolin airport after a long tiring, hot and cramped flight to be greeted with big smiles, garlands of flowers and a bottle of fresh cold water was given to you (all free) when you passed through the exit doors?
Those where the days when the Goan appreciated you for what you where, a friendly visitor/holidaymaker and we apprecited them as our happy to see us hosts
It was a wonderful experience

I think it is our generosity rather than just the money Steve

It's nice to be nostalgic, but I arrived in Goa via charter over 14 times between 1994 and 2001 and never got that treatment.(Garlands, water, brass band etc.)
I think you will find that it only happened each year to the first charter i.e
mid-late October.
Since 2001 we have travelled via Mumbai ,and are just grateful to be greeted by a plane, which is about on time.

:)

Yep the first charter gets "the treatment" - don't know if it will happen this year or if there will be enough people on it for them to bother. :D

Re: Good Old Days

We were on the first XL flight when it was possible to go to Goa on a charter and come back 6 months later on any other. Thought it was going to be the bees knees as they advertised big leather seats and lots of leg room.
We had been in the air for about 3+ hours when it was announced we would soon be commencing our descent in Larnaca (Cyprus) - big panic as we all thougth we were on the wrong flight. Nobody had told us it was the re-fuelling stop and the looks on peoples faces were to be seen to be believed.
We commented that the staff looked like they had been asked in the airport terminal if they were not doing anything else that day would they like to be the crew - no matching uniforms and hadn't a clue. My veggie meal was chicken and no I couldn't have anything else.
I remember all season people talking about the trouble they had with their journey to Goa and it was always with XL.

Re: Good Old Days

Are we all going to talk about them or is it a No No?
Does anybody want this as a conversation topic or are we only going to talk about the death of Goa - which is boring - make a happy topic - please :)
