Reading between the lines, it would appear that x visas are being replaced by tourist visas. Please correct me if i am wrong as i wouldnt want to misinform.

If so , the important issue is that your freinds will lose residency and all the priviliges that go with it.

On a personal note thank you for telling your story and for providing valuable info.

Hi Douglas,
I just was passing on what I had heard from Goa yesterday. I am worring about loosing "priviliges" and only having a tourist visa when we come to renew our 5 year x visa in the summer. Do you know if it is best to try to renew the visa just before it expires, or leave it until later. (has a visa got to be continuous) I know we will be extremely lucky to [/"]might get a 2 yearCget it reOLOR]newed but

What a mess the last text came out - I was saying I was just passing on what I had heard from Goa yesterday. I am worring about loosing the so called "priviliges" and only being given a tourist visa when we come to renew in the summer. Do you know if it is best to TRY to renew the visa just before it expires, or leave it until later. Has a visa got to run continuously. I know we will be extremely lucky to get it renewed but MIGHT get a 2 year x.

HI Noni,

I really cannot help you on this one, i tried to renew in panjim last year and was refused and excluded.

I presume you will be applying in london. I would have a look at IHC website , or phone the consular section and check their normal procedures.

Leavinggoa has also advised.

The place is dysfunctional, which can sometimes work in your favour, so you never know.

Best of luck anyway.

Hi Noni,

I dont think the visa has to be continuous at all but like Douglas i dont think you have any chance of getting a 5 year x visa im afraid.

I would rather take my chances with the application through London than Panjim at least you would be on the right side of the globe if things go pear shaped.

Thanks for the update from Goa and best of luck with your application.
By the way i notice on the HCI London website that it says x-visas are only available to PIOs, has this wording been recently changed, does anyone know this?

Highest Regards,
Remy

If you ever tried to make a complaint against an indian lawyer i am sure you would come up against "not losing face" at all levels .The system is corrupt and dysfunctional anyway so i wouldnt even think about it.

Hi Douglas it was meant to be tongue in cheek:sneaky: (drug dealer doesn't qualify as a specialist occupation so it would be hard to get an employment/business visa, thus they must be doing it on long tourist visas which is illegal:ohmy: :D [hence 3 month tourist visas]:( ) but I do agree that the market still looks buoyant and there are plenty of shows in Britain for homes abroad and yes they all include Goa, the other strange thing is that my friends in Goa are actually more unhappy about Out of State Indians coming into Goa than FNs (unless your a Hippy or gangster).
The thing about property developement, in this country at least, it is normal for a contractor here to provide funding for roads, drainage, flood relief, public amenities, schools etc as part of the consent and nowadays a proportion of the consent HAS to include a social housing element. Maybe if they took that on board in Goa they might actually think that all this developement was a good idea.
Finally there is always somebody who wants to make a name, politician or lawyer and if it goes that route well we'll see who steps up.
Onwards and upwards, adventure beckons.
Regards All

Hi all,

Another article from feb 07 that may be of interest. It allegedly sums up the feeling of goans towards foreigners, sex and drugs, land acquisition and national security.

Thanks will do. We were in Panjim Police Station when the lady in front wanted to extend her visa (British) she had obtained her visa from Deli, and was told in no uncertain terms to go back there to renew it.
Will keep you undated.

Hi Douglas, we heard about this when we were in Goa this year, my first thought was "Goths" on holiday:) but apparently they ship these ladies in for 2/3 weeks and then move them on, so that the police don't notice them:rofl:
On a serious note, I do feel sorry for the Goans, who IMO are kind, welcoming courteous people and it really is appalling to have this external element ruining their state. The health risks alone should make the authorities wake up, do they really want HIV/AIDS in their state.

Hi Remy,

I only wear the ninja suit at night these days, in bed i mean, it makes me feel more secure.

During the day i mostly wear my green beret, (the one with the bronzed cap badge , so it doesnt glint in the sun and give my position away). It doesnt quite go with the hawaian shirt and the knee length shorts, but who cares.

For special missions, i also wear my black belt and combat boots, this completes the day attire. The secret is not to draw attention to yourself, you never know when you may be called out on a covert operation.

Operations are few and far between these days, so i mostly stand in front of the mirror and practice my steely eyed look. Sometimes i also twitch that little muscle in my jaw.

Normal men can sleep soundly in their beds, cuz men like douglas are just there. Its destiny you see.

Hi, Remi
Thanks for your message. We will wait until end July - at the moment photo copying a colour copy of the Deeds and making up a file for the Embassy. Will keep you all updated.

Yeah man you sure paint a classy image.
Instead of the SAS motto 'who dares wins' - with regards to purchasing property in Goa ours should be 'who buys sins' or 'visas in the bin'

I took a file of every document I could think of. The guy at HCL wouldn't even look at it. He said "they" had taken all their powers away.
