VERY DISAPPOINTED ONLY ONE YEAR X. AT BIRMINGHAM:thumbdown:

Douglas - how will we loose out if we only accept a tourist visa, as this would suit us at the moment? Naturally going for the 5 year x RENEWAL :rofl: and seeing what we get

hi noni,
why so disappointed?
It's an 'X' visa after all; and isn't 'X' supposed to mean eXtensible?

Andy, this was not for me it was a friend. She lives permanently in Goa, and it will mean an airflight out of there each year to renew.
It will not be extended in Goa, as you are told to go home and extend it.

God knows what we will get in October/November.

Hi Noni and Douglas,

I think we can safely say the 5 year X Visa for FNs is now a thing of the past. Dead in the water. Kaput.
Is there anybody out there who has sucessfully renewed theirs?

Remy

Hi Remy

Have known one couple to get a 5 year x August 2006.
One couple 2 year x May
One couple 1 year x June.

Who knows what is in front of us?

Hi Old man,

Yeah, it looks like things are counting down.
The couple you know who got the 5 year one in August 06 probably slipped in there just before the 'wind of change' swept over the visa department, as i believe it was around this time policy changed.

Regards,
Remy

I can't see that it serves any purpose as they already have Residency. Looks like they're clearing the decks for a new visa regime.;) I reckon 30 days on entry (free) and anything more required will have to be qualified.ie, 60 days, 90 days and so on.

the first few times we visited India we didn't need a visa (can't remember if it was no visa needed or visa on entry but it was definitely for more than 30 days) then the UK started wanting visas for Indian nationals so India reciprocated.

Hi,
What do you know that we don't?

As far as Residency see Douglas' reply to Noni's question answer 344 on this thread.

Hi Y'all,

just found this article from the (Goa) Herald (www.oheraldo.in) or direct link:

http://oheraldo.in/node/25245?PHPSESSID=7aa1dd80a5036d

(sorry had trouble activating link due to being the technical village idiot)!:o

Anyway note last para:

''Rane said if properties are found to have been bought in violition of the law of the land, they would be taken over by the government.''

Bit of a heavy duty warning!!

old news I'm afraid -
latest cabinet news
Rane is now the Speaker not chief minister, and his comment about confiscation was immediately repudiated by another politician who said "this is not a banana republic"

It is a banana republic, and the cabinet are mostly known crooks.

Thanks for the update a-f-d and I completely agree with you LG about the Banana Republic!

It will be interesting to hear if there'll be any new directives from RBI following the elections, but i won't hold my breath!

Hi, Hope you have battened down the hatches for the next storm. It has been horrific over here. There is a possibility of a damn bursting and houses are under several feet of water in Yorkshire etc. With parts of the M1 closed, and according to the forecast worse on the way.

We always go to the "Police Station" to sign in - it is amazing - we get from getting out our file (wrapped in newspaper and string) to "why are you here we don't need to see you until your visa runs out". So just to be on the safe side, we go to say "hullo" and "goodbye" every time we visit the Apartment, because whatever you do  you can't get it right with the authorities.

:lightbulb: Can't bring up the scan - is there something "technical" I should do, nor other threads "thumbnails"
