Coming to Goa in Jan

Hi all,

Ive just posted something similar on Indiamike....so apologies if you frequent both and read this twice!

Im going to be in North Goa (either Candolim or somewhere quieter) from 6th Jan for a few months as I am working for a charity in Mapusa.

Ill be travelling and staying on my own during this time so I just wanted to see if anyone (esp anyone local) wanted to meet for a beer at some point during my stay - would love to pick someone's brains on where to go/stay in Goa and generally just get know the Goan way of life.

Im a 28 year old male from london and also a keen photographer so if anyone fancies an evening taking shots of the local area (or can recommend any decent locations!) then pm me and ill send you my email.

Thanks!
Krunal

Hi Krunalv

Of course there is the River Princess to photo!!!, all the beaches, and villages.
If you go to Ahh! Goa on Sundays (just outside Candolim after Nerual) they have a BBQ and included in the price is a 20 min boat trip along the river where you could photograph many varieties of birds (feathered ones) The spice plantation would be a good place to go as well, along with the different plants you will be able to wash the elephant! Good luck.

Krunal, what exactly are you playing at?

We went through all this last month

http://britishexpats.com/forum/showthread.php?t=694022

At the time, I said you had done it all on IndiaMike a month earlier, in exactly the same words,
WHICH YOU STRENUOUSLY DENIED.........WHY?

This has been my first time posting on an internet forum (along with indiamike)
Because here it is, posted under the name of Legod;

http://www.indiamike.com/india/goa-f...7/#post1064884

So, why deny it?
I apologised at the time, but still felt I had read it all before.........

noni - thanks for the advice much appreciated.

Johnny,

Im not playing at anything - if you look at my reply at your post earlier, I never said I didnt post on Indiamike - i clearly said I did post there in the bit in brackets and what I meant was that it was the first time I had ever posted on an internet forum.....Besides I dont understand why it such an issue for me to create post to see if anyone is free to meet or ask for advice seeing as this is the first time im going to Goa..... is that such a crime regardless whether I post on both sites?

Hi J5
I had previously read the 15 postings on the previous thread 4 from yourself. I have also read and understood the postings from this one.
The comments made was my opinion and not necessarily a criticism.
If you are a moderator on this Forum then I will accept and apologize for the alleged criticism, in which case however, you must accept to be the master.
Perhaps if this site could be a little more friendly more posts may be made by a lot more (peepers I think they may be refered as) and not just the regular few.
Not wishing to continue with this thread.
Wishing you a Merry Christmas and a Peaceful and more Friendly New Year.

Hi Krunalv

As a fellow photographer, I recommend the following places for great sunset photos :

Baga beach from about 1630 onwards
Mini Vagator - park up at the top
Agonda - South Goa

I also found that taking a drive around the various areas of Goa yielded some great photo opportunities, especially for natural portraiture shots.
One thing to bear in mind, especially if you are a male, is to be very CAREFUL about photographing Indian women. Some take exception, and some of their menfolk can kick off about this too. My advice would be to ask them first, or use a good long zoom lens.

Hope this helps

Krunalv I would echo this advice, also photographing children, polite to ask permission.
If you have time to go to South Goa; Palolem is popular with photographers. For the best (my opinion) go over the bridge towards Karwar town (bus is also convenient) the 'Tagore' beach where the river Kali meets the sea has spectacular views, sunsets and sunrises.
