Another grocery hunting question :-)

Hi guys,

Something else I am on the lookout for, is cupcake paper cups. Anyone seen these around? Ive checked Magsons and Newtons, and didnt see any. Any other suggestions?

And self raising flour?

Thanks :D

I managed to get self raising flour once.
You`ll just have to make your own by adding baking powder to maida.

There are a couple of places in mapusa that may sell cup cake cases-
1. There is a shop along the alley where you buy red chillies in the Market that sells all sorts of containers ,plastic, aluminium, paper etc.
2. The hotel supply shop near the terracotta market!

Good luck!

Thanks for the info. I will try those to places.

Did you have much luck baking with Maida and baking powder? I made scones the other day and they just werent right. Not sure how to tweak the recipe to make up for the difference in the flour.

Any suggestions?

I'm with msj5 on the make your own self raising flour thing though I have seen it at Prime Shoppee [sic] on the Calangute/Baga road.

Cupcake cases - while in Mapusa market, also try Virani's (or whatever it's called now, something similar) which is right next to where they sell the lottery tickets. Another suggestion would be Home Zone, next to Farmer's Choice in Porvorim. There is also a Virani's in Panjim which is round behind Cafe Coffee Day and Mansur's which is off Church Square Municipal Gardens, in the road which leaves up next to the bakery which I think is called Mr. Bakers. I have definitely seen them somewhere, I just can't remember where!

You just got a tour of some of the best cookware shops anyway!

Good luck from us, too!

Chameleons.

For scones you need to add a level tbsp of baking powder to 8oz (225g) flour, for a rich fruit cake add 1 tsp and for plain cakes add 2tsp.Sift them together well.

Hope this works.!:fingerscrossed:
