Shipping boxes home

Hi,
I'm planning on moving home soon having spent a couple of years in Germany. I can't drive, and don't really have enough things to be bothered bullying friends or family into moving my stuff home.

I was thinking of just shipping a lot of boxes home. Just books and clothes really. Does anyone have any experience with shipping boxes back home (either for moving or otherwise)?

Thanks for any tips!

Re: Shipping boxes home

Make sure that your boxes are decent trwall cartons, otherwise with books especially, they will collapse in transit. Try and palletise them, if you can.

If you are shipping a lot of boxes the cheapest way will be by groupage trailer. Google "Freight groupage operators Germany" and you should come up with some results, but you will need to check they cover your area. The UK offices will be able to give you a quote and also the name of their German agents to contact

Try shiply.com. It's a UK site where couriers bid for your business and many couriers make weekly runs from the UK to East Europe and could also be interested in bringing stuff back the other way.
