Default Layover in Frankfurt

Sorry if this is being discussed earlier;

I'm traveling from USA to Sri Lanka on November & I have a 5 hour layover time in Frankfurt airport. Do I have to apply for transit visa? I carry Sri Lankan passport

My status in USA - Student (F1)
I have valid visa till 2012

Let me know please.

Hi there. Try this website:
www.immihelp.com/visas/germanytransitvisa.html

It seems you will not be allowed to leave the airport.

thank you for your help!

According to that I come under exemption 2.
Isn't a student visa (F1) come under 'A valid temporary residence Stamp' ?

Also I have multiple entry canadian visitor visa till 07/2010.

Thanks again

Make sure you have a book or crossword puzzle magazine to tide you over. There isnt much to do at the airport, once you have browsed through the duty free shops.

There is a lovely restaurant on the second floor at the back of the airport, where you can grab a coffee or whatever and watch the planes come and go. They are really great and will allow you to sit there and nurse your coffee and food for a long time.

What was the restaurant like? Is it good quality food, I suspect it will be hearty German cuisine?

We will be spending sometime at Frankfurt airport before we board our flight to Bangkok, my wife is already looking forward to browsing the duty free for some nice new fashionable sunglasses from Dior or Chanel

I'll just hide in a corner somewhere.....

Well we arrived for breakfast (not being able to have a coffee before leaving moscow). The meal from what I remember was good - bacon, eggs, toast and orange juice and tons of coffee (which was great since we had been up since 4am moscow time). They even brough ketchup for our eggs when we asked them for it.....

There is a open restaurant downstairs as well, but its very noisy, crowded and people waiting for tables.......service is slow......

Enjoy your trip
