Have you seen these birds?

I was standing in our garden when i heard a loud whoosh whoosh. looking up I was amazed to see a very large bird flying overhead. It looked very like an eagle, with huge wing span and yellow beak. I wrote to the German bird watch website but got no reply. Anyone living in the Starnberg/Herrsching/wessling area, have you seen these birds? There used to be eagles all over Germany, thus the eagle emblem for Germany, but they died out mainly because farmers shot them. If it was an eagle then probably a Steinardler. There are a few in other parts of Germany.

The Steinadler has a brown beak, not a yellow one.

Re: Have you seen these birds?

Thanks, you see I am not very up on birds or I would know for sure what this was.
We have loads of hawks, buzzards, crows etc. Eagles died out but have been spotted in areas north of the Danube, particularly in the Altmühl valley. They also have them in the Alps, about an hours drive from us.
One bird that has been spotted in the Oberammergau area (50 kilometres from me) is a vulture, but I dont think it was one of those. Vultures used to be common in Bavaria but since farmers were stopped from leaving dead sheep etc in the fields, they have become rare.
Only one of my neighbours also saw this bird, we'll just have to see if it turns up again.
