I hope that she maintains her commitment to democracy when she sees the results of the coming elections in Germany.

Re: Good For Angela !
There's no doubt that populism is growing throughout the world, lest Germany. Fortunately, Germans tend to be more pragmatic and sensible than the anglosphere, and aren't quite as willing to subscribe to nationalist rhetoric (reckless nationalism is considered rather undesirable to most Germans, even waving the flag reminds them of Nazism, and that's a national embarrassment, for obvious reasons).
Besides, the Germans, amongst all, are well-aware that their very existence depends on others. They have an export-driven mentality, and have become one of the world's most globalised economies. Unlike, say, Britain, few would want to jeopardise that simply to wave the flag. Nobody cares about the flag, they care about their well-being. As most people do. What makes the germans a bit different is their reluctance to subscribe to nationalist rhetoric. They've been there, done that.
We shall see if there's a significant change in that view. It will be a much bigger challenge than say, a country which is *still* licking its wounds from losing its control and influence in the world. You can already see the desperation; Rogue politicians jumping ahead of the line to suck up to the new emperor.

Re: Good For Angela !
The ones obsessed with the Third Reich and WW2 are not the Germans - look to the English media to see who has that obsession !
