Car insurance - UK registered car in Germany
Hi I'd be really grateful for some help.
Are there any UK insurance companies who will insure a UK registered car while in Germany? If not, does anyone have any suggestions?
I'm here for six months. working, but do not use the car for work, only commuting.
Cheers.

Re: Car insurance - UK registered car in Germany
I do know of an insurance company in the UK who I used some years back... i think they r still in business.
They insure UK cars whilst out of the UK - with no restriction on time ....ie car can be outside the UK all year round.
They also wave the requirement for a valid UK mot certificate which is very handy.
My last premium was in the order of 600 pounds 3 years ago for a citroen Xsara.

[QUOTE=shirley and anthony hide;12135950]I used Saga car insurance. You can take abroad without the usual 30 day max restriction that a lot of insurers quote.

Deal breaker is you have to be over 50 so may not work for you

Google Stuart Collins. They are a broker in Swansea who specialise in UK cars in Europe with no time or mileage restrictions. I have used them for three years, as do several colleagues.

Re: Car insurance - UK registered car in Germany
Morning everyone. New to the forum, first post, so hope you don't mind that I ask a similar question here rather than start a new thread.
I am moving to Germany at the end of June, but hoping to bring my own car across with me. I will settle in Germany on a permanent basis. The car has a full MOT, but the insurance runs out at the end of this month. However, I need to insure it for the next two months (May and June), when I will still be driving in the UK.
Because I told the insurance company that I would not be bringing the car back to the UK (Stupid thing to say I know, but I like to be honest), they have now said they can't cover me at all. Doh!
So, who can I get to cover me for the next two months of UK driving, then hopefully the rest of the insurance year (10 months in Germany). Would this Swansea company do something like that? If so, who are they? Google is not being helpful.

They offer insurance that covers pretty much anywhere in Europe so you can drive in the UK as much as you want. You can request a quote on their website and it usually comes back very quickly.
Hope that helps.
