I really dispair about the youth of today, if people did that then they could vote the UK out of the EU, which was the opposite of what he really wanted
I agree, and good point.

Sure, just wait till the British start kicking out Spanish citizens....Surely, there will be no heated debate whatsoever about British living in Spain....British are so much better than the Europeans, such an enrichment without which the EU can't live but Europeans are only money grabing, Brits exploiting imbeciles....

I remember the grief and pain associated with visiting the "Auslaenderbehioerde" at Tempelhof before we joined the EU. German officals are not all Britanophiles ! Some seemed to take a positive delight in being nasty to me !

I think you'll always find this anti-outsider attitude in every country. There will always be people who irrationally fear that new immigrants will take their jobs, make them wait longer for health care, drive up housing prices, increase crime, etc. Some of this is what's driving the yes group thinking in the upcoming Brexit vote.

Rules, are the same (FOR NOW)

But in 2017/18/19 You will need a visa/resident permit card by then.

Yes for sure. It now looks ominous for UK citizens planning to retire in Germany (or anywhere in the EU). Even though the rules will likely stay the same for now, settling there has the risk of having to relocate again.

With EU statements today requesting the UK leave as soon as possible, resdiency rights might also end sooner than expected.

Second the UK are 100% OUT of the eu.

THAT IS IT.

I'm sure 'freedom of movement' will stop.

No change for at least two years. Norway and Switzerland are not part of the EU and they still have freedom of movement so it's unlikely that you'll need a visa or resident permit to live in Germany if the UK cuts a similar deal with the EU.

Maybe, but that possibility is still a big unknown. I think that's a bit too optimistic right now.

Making relocation plans without any basis for future legality is pretty risky. The fallout results from the EU exit may be different than what Norway/Switzerland negotiated under different circumstances.

It's a risk, but a calculated risk. In the end it's in no-one's self-interest to deport or force the move of millions of citizens from each other's countries.

I suspect expats already settled in an EU country will be allowed to remain in most cases. Those wanting to come after UK separation are much more questionable.

Yea, i think it all begins in 2017, when thigns get rolling.

Anyone from the EU coming to UK will need either

1: Apply visa in there own country
2: Visa on arrival stamp

it's one of them.

Nothing is likely to change until October 2018 at the earliest on the current timetable. I very much doubt EU citizens will require a visa to come to the UK. Worst case scenario they'll be able to visit visa-free but will be unable to work or study without a pre-approved visa. If the UK remains within the EEA or strikes a Swiss-style deal then the status quo will continue.
