Berlin Hauptbahnhof

What an amazing placve ! A shopping mall with railway trains ! When I see this and the area around Potsdamer Platz I am reminded of the words of the "Nationalhymne der DDR" - "Auferstanden aus Ruinen......."

What a great project!
Berlin Hauptbahnhof, formerly Lehrter Bahnhof, is Berlin's main railway station. It is a gigantic five storied glass and steel framed building that was opened in 2006. Cost of construction: €700 million, took ten years to be completed. The Berlin Bahnhof has 1100 trains carrying around 30,000 passengers per day.

It is a great train station. It doesn't feel as congested as Hamburg or Cologne. Great to see Berlin becoming more and more vibrant, a fantastic city.

It is returning to iots former grandeur when it had nearly 5 million people. lots of parks and open spaces. A nice place - if you can ignore the ghosts !
