Default Transporting a trailer & boat uk->france?

One of my cousins is buying a boat & trailer currently in the UK (Essex) back to France using his French vehicle to tow it. He asks what paperwork etc he'll need for the trailer & the boat?

Apparently the payload would be just under 1.5 tonnes in total.

Can anyone advise? Thanks in advance.

Would he not have to get the trailer registered in France first, here was a thread in the Italy forum about pulling a UK caravan with an Italian registered car and people thought it would be a no no

Can't answer myself but appropriate legislation can be found here:
https://remorque.ooreka.fr/comprendre/reglementation-remorque
http://remorques-attelages.fr/reglementation.html

Of specific interest in the above. Any trailer with a gross weight greater than 500 kg must have its own individual registration. (Carte gris)
Less than 500kg, a license plate same as the vehicle is required. Does not have to be a permanently fixed plate.

I'm sure someone more in the know can provide greater details.

Thanks both, I'm sending the links to our cousin together with the relevant email for the DVLA enquiries.
