Surprise visitor to the garden ...
... cutting the grass today and saw this fantastic caterpillar; managed to take it to a bundle of wood as it looked a juicy morsel for a bird. Never seen one before, so thought I'd share; it's a Great Peacock Moth, web says it's the largest in France.

Nice one Tweedpipe. Apparently there's a fledged moth in one of Van Goch's paintings.

Looks tad like a processional caterpillar. Amazing how much stuff is on net about these nasty little blighters.
